What Happens if my Licence has been Disqualified by a Court?

Firstly, it is important to note that demerit points are not affected by a Court imposed disqualification. Any demerit points on your licence will remain in place and can be used to suspend you or refuse a licence at a later time. However, there are offences which also attract demerit points. These will be recorded on your demerit record.

If a demerit point licence suspicion period is interrupted by a Court disqualification, the unserved suspension period may need to be served at the end of the Court imposed disqualification.

You should also be aware that you may be refused a licence when you reapply for a licence once a Court imposed disqualification has ended. This will happen if you have demerit points that reach or exceed your threshold at the time of your application for a licence.
